Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, New York, London, Moscow… within a couple of years we will certainly add Dubai to this list of the most important cities in the world. If there’s one city that can claim to be on the forefront of shaping the urban landscape of the future, it’s probably Dubai. Here you can see a creative tribute to Dubai’s skyscrapers and skyline.
Twenty years ago, Dubai was rather an unimportant place on the map. Only few people had ever heard of this place in the United Arab Emirates. Over the years Dubai has evolved to the economic heart of its region and the leading business and tourism center in the Middle East. Today, Dubai is one of the fastest growing cities of the modern world, equaled only by some Chinese cities. Dubai offers visitors the exotic past wrapped in the 21st century package of futuristic skyscrapers, luxury shopping malls and multi-lane highways. The emirate is a stunning metropolis with a fascinating kaleidoscope of colors, styles and contrasts - blending East and West. The Dubai skyline includes the world’s highest building, tallest freestanding hotel and tallest all-residential tower, the 3rd tallest officer tower and the longest pedestrian bridge between two skyscrapers. The Palm Jumeirah island, the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab hotel, Dubai Creek, Ski Dubai and Sheikh Zayed Road, Emirates Towers, Dubai WTC and Twin Towers Deira have quickly become symbols of the "new Middle East”.
In the last weeks, Dubai’s economy has seen a big backlash as the world markets reacted violently to the global economic crisis. But even in these dark times of debt restructuring, Dubai’s worldwide prominence remains. On January 4, 2010 the Burj Dubai skyscraper will be inaugurated with big festivities. Dubai's most well known building and landmark gets its finishing touches. Soon this great tower will reign as the world's tallest freestanding structure in a new era of super-structures. You can find deals on Dubai hotels at Octopus Travel so you can see this magnificent structure in person.
